Green Bay Packers: 20 greatest players since 2010
By Joe Kipp
1. Aaron Rodgers, Quarterback
What else is there to say about Aaron Rodgers? There was never a doubt in anyone’s mind that he wouldn’t be No. 1 on this list. Being the successor to a Hall of Fame quarterback isn’t easy, but if anyone was fit for the job it was Rodgers.
Let’s look at what he’s accomplished so far. Since taking over for Brett Favre in 2008, Rodgers leads the NFL in all-time passer rating at 103.8. He also has the best touchdown to interception ratio in NFL history at 4.01. His career record stands at 94-48, and he has a Super Bowl ring to show for.
His best season came in 2011 when he had arguably the greatest season ever for a quarterback: 68.3 percent completion rate, 4,653 yards, 45 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, 122.5 passer rating
So, what else is left to accomplish? Even though Rodgers has one championship to his name, his career hasn’t quite lived up to the hype for what many fans have expected. He’s won two MVP awards, been named twice a first-team All-Pro, once a second-team All-Pro, six times a Pro Bowler and even a Super Bowl MVP.
For the talent he has, expectations are warranted. But Rodgers must put together at least one more Super Bowl campaign if he wants to be mentioned with the all-time greats; that’s just the reality of the business.
No matter what else happens, though, Rodgers will be remembered by some as the greatest Packer of all-time – and the No. 1 player on this list.
