3. Clay Matthews, Outside Linebacker

Clay Matthews has been one of the best pass rushers in the history of the Green Bay Packers. He became the Packers’ all-time leader in sacks last season, and currently has 80 for his career.

His body of work speaks for itself, but he’s struggled in recent years. Perhaps due to age, scheme usage or injuries, Matthews just hasn’t been what he once was.

During the peak of his career, Matthews was a top five pass rusher in the NFL. Arguably his best season came during the Packers’ Super Bowl campaign in 2010. He recorded an impressive 13.5 sacks on his way to a first-team All-Pro nod. Matthews has been named to six Pro Bowls in his career, as well as twice being named a second-team all-pro, in addition to his first-team selection.

Matthews just turned 32-years-old earlier this month and has a lot to prove if he wants to be on the team next season. The 2018 season is the last of the five-year deal he signed in 2013. A rejuvenated secondary could prove vital to Matthews’ success this coming season.
