4. Rookie X is ready to be a major contributor right away.

Taking it one step farther, some people will be ready to claim that this rookie is ready to become a major contributor right away.

The fact is, very few rookies are ready to step in and contribute at a high level from Day 1. The adjustment from the college game to the NFL is very real and extremely difficult to make. It’s unusual to see even the top picks in the draft succeed right away.

These rookies that people are claiming will be a major contributor aren’t always top picks. They could be mid-round draft picks as well. If you hear anyone claiming one of the three wide receivers Green Bay picked this year, J’Mon Moore, Equanimeous St. Brown or Marquez Valdes-Scantling, will be ready to step in as the second outside receiver opposite Davante Adams, your little antennas should pop up.
