4. Davante Adams is comfortable being a team leader

Davante Adams was interviewed after practice on Tuesday and stated how he’s ready to step in for Jordy Nelson. Adams said he received a personal phone call from Nelson in March when Nelson was released by the Packers. Adams was ‘shocked’ when he heard the news.

With Nelson out of the picture, Adams will be heavily counted on to mentor the younger receivers in the locker room. He’s had plenty to say on the matter:

"“I feel like I’m an old man sometimes, [then I think] ‘Ah, I need to stop. I’m not a Year 12 vet’. But at the same time, when you’re the second-oldest guy in the room, [teammates] look to you for that type of stuff. So it’s not a problem for me at all to step up.”"

It was also suggested by quarterback Aaron Rodgers that Adams could see more snaps at the slot receiver position this coming season. A spot that’s traditionally been occupied by Randall Cobb, Adams has shown he has the versatility to play at any spot on the field.

Coach McCarthy had great things to say about Adams during his presser as well. “Davante is a tremendous student of the game. He watches a ton of film.” Adams finished last season with 74 receptions, 885 yards and 10 touchdowns, all in only 14 games.
