Green Bay Packers: Top 5 acquisitions of 2018
The Green Bay Packers have made some pretty nice acquisitions this offseason. Let’s rank the top 5 most impactful for the upcoming season.
The Green Bay Packers haven’t gone overboard with offseason acquisitions, but have made a few more than we’re used to seeing. Of course, a lot of that has to do with the general manager position. Gone is the uber-conservative Ted Thompson. In his place, Is Brian Gutekunst, who appears to have a little of Ron Wolf’s aggression in him, but it remains to be seen how far he will go.
Gutekunst took over a roster that was exposed last season after Aaron Rodgers went down with a collarbone injury against the Minnesota Vikings. For the rest of the season, Green Bay struggled to do complete even the most basic of football tasks.
The Packers were more aggressive in free agency, signing a few new players to key positions in order to help boost their roster.
They also were very active during the draft. They went in with 12 picks and weren’t afraid to make moves at every stage. They traded twice in the first round and then back into the third round later on.
Will these moves pay off? That remains to be seen. For now, let’s take a look at the five biggest acquisitions, whether it be through free agency, trade or the draft, the Packers made this offseason.
