Oren Burks, Inside Linebacker

There has been a lack of coverage from the linebackers unit from the leaky Dom Capers defense in recent years. The last time I can remember linebackers that could cover are players Desmond Bishop and Nick Barnett.

After long last, the Packers brought in linebacker Oren Burks in the third round of the draft. In college, he played safety as well and that’s what gives him his knowledge of coverage while being able to play linebacker.

In Pettine’s scheme for Burks, there will be plenty of playing time because no other linebackers can cover as well that’s on the roster. He had a really good three-cone drill which means he can adjust to the play whether the play being run or pass with his natural athleticism and length. Packers fans should expect him to be playing early on in 2018.
