5. Bryan Bulaga, Right Tackle

2018 salary cap hit: $7,903,125

Bryan Bulaga is one of the best right tackles in the NFL. The only thing holding him back is his ability to stay on the field. Bulaga has become injured a handful of times during his career, playing in all 16 games just twice since entering the league in 2010.

Relative to other right tackles in the league, Bulaga has the second-highest cap hit for the position in 2018. With a total value of $33,750,000 over five years, the average annual salary works out to be $6,750,000. At the time of signing in 2015, it made Bulaga the highest-paid right tackle in the NFL. The Packers’ front office recently asked Bulaga to take a pay cut, to which he quickly declined.

A strong argument for Bulaga’s current contract is the fact he only missed five games from 2014-2016. When he’s healthy, he’s a top-five player at his position. But an ACL tear late in 2017 raises questions about his effectiveness going forward. He certainly won’t be ready to start the 2018 season and yields the eighth-highest contract on the team. Some have speculated Bulaga could be released later this offseason.
