The Milwaukee Bucks are about to dive headfirst into a search for their new head coach. Here are the top five candidates they will look at.

After taking some odd time to reflect on the season, the Milwaukee Bucks front office has finally decided to push forward with their search for a new head coach.

Jason Kidd began the year as the Bucks’ head coach, but wasn’t able to finish the job. Milwaukee fired him halfway through the year after he displayed a maddening stubbornness to change his defensive schemes, adjust his offense or even make simple coaching decisions (such as making a free throw to put your team up four points very late in the game).

Joe Prunty was then assigned the head job since he was one of Kidd’s top assistants. After he took over, Milwaukee went 21-16 down the stretch and lost in seven games to the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Prunty made slight changes on defense that appeared to help, but was in way over his head. Regardless, it sounds as if he will still be a candidate to keep his job, but the Bucks are going to be looking outside the organization as well (thank god).

Milwaukee’s job has been considered the favorite among head coaches this season, largely thanks to Giannis Antetokounmpo.

They have other talent atop their roster, but still have holes to fill as well. How far they go in the next couple of years and whether Antetokounmpo ultimately stays with them might depend on the man they hire this spring. Here are the five most likely candidates they’ll hire.
