4. Corey Knebel

Corey Knebel is the unfortunate victim of circumstance and is the only reason he’s on this list. Even though he struggled throughout his first three appearances, racking up a 10.13 earned run average and allowing 10.1 hits per nine innings, it was such a small sample size we shouldn’t think anything of it.

The disappointment comes from the hamstring injury he suffered April 5 against those nasty Cubs.

After releasing a pitch, the hamstring on his left leg (his plant leg) appeared to pop, as he immediately jumped around and fell to the ground in pain, At first, some thought it might be a knee based on Knebel’s initial reaction, but it turned out to be the hamstring.

The worst-case was imagined and some believed he might be out for the whole summer or even months. Now, we have a much clearer picture, as he began a rehab stint at double-A Biloxi.

There, he’s expected to make 3-4 appearances and should rejoin the Major League club for the next road trip which begins on May 10.
