Pick Analysis. 4th round. (110th pick). CB. 28. Scouting Report. Nick Nelson. player

Nick Nelson enjoyed one great season at Wisconsin after transferring from the University of Hawaii. He was the lockdown corner the Badgers needed and was showing off his skills in the pre-draft process.

Unfortunately, he tore his meniscus in a private workout with a team a few weeks before the draft. He should be ready to go by the time training camp starts in August, but he’s missing valuable time this summer.

Oakland has a huge need at cornerback and failed to address it through the first few rounds. Nelson should be able to step in and earn a shot at consistent playing time in the silver and black.

If the coaching staff can work with him to shore up his technique and teach him to cover up for his lack of elite speed, Nelson has a decent chance to earn a starting job in Oakland next year.
