Pro: Iowa Pedigree

The Big Ten has cranked out top-flight cornerbacks, both in this Draft (Denzel Ward), but also in the recent Drafts as well (Marcus Lattimore, Jourdan Lewis). And the Packers in particular have an affinity for Kirk Ferentz and his Iowa Hawkeyes. Jackson is now one of three former Hawkeyes wearing the Green and Gold, joining RT Bryan Bulaga and DE Mike Daniels.

With those two stalwarts in the trenches from Iowa City, and former Hawkeye Micah Hyde making an impact during his four years in Green Bay, the Iowa City to Green Bay Express has been quite the pipeline. The only misstep was LB Abdul Hodge who battled injuries during his brief NFL tenure.

Looking at those Hawkeyes currently on the team, Bulaga has started almost every game he’s suited up for since his selection in 2010 and Mike Daniels has become the heart and soul of the locker room. Jackson has plenty of that Daniels swagger in him as well, lacking any sort of fear when he takes the field.

But while he has the swagger of Daniels, he isn’t the vocal type like him. He’s more cerebral like Micah Hyde was. He is the blend of the Iowa Hawkeyes system, showing confidence yet respect for his team and his teammates. And the Packers are slowly becoming Iowa City North.
