Con: Passed up on two top-flight defensive prospects

Probably the biggest source of consternation among the Packers fanbase on social media was the fact both safety Derwin James and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds were on the board when the Packers traded out of Pick 14.

Edmunds went to the Bills with pick 16 and James went to the Chargers with pick 17.

Edmunds and James are both believed to be the game-changers the Packers need on defense. Edmunds can play any linebacker position and can really get after the quarterback from anywhere on the field. James is an atheltic freak who can help rush the passer as a blitzer and cover on the backend.

That could have been a part of why the Packers moved up to 18, sensing that they could lose another prospect they were enamored with.

Time will tell if the Packers made the right call, but on the surface, it was puzzling at the moment the trade was announced seeing those two on the board, and then seeing them go right before the trade back up.
