Final Green Bay Packers big board for 2018 NFL Draft
11. Vita Vea, DT, Washington (Previous: Not Ranked)
Vita Vea is a big riser on this draft boards, as he was previously unranked but now comes in at No. 11.
Where Davenport can play the outside, Vea is an inside player along the defensive line. At 6-foot-4, 347 pounds, he’s a complete beast inside and someone offensive linemen don’t want to tango with too often. He can eat up blocks and free up his teammates to tackle all the glory.
However, that’s not all he can do. He excelled at pushing the pocket at Washington and making the quarterback feel really uncomfortable. He had 8.5 sacks the last two years, including five in 2016.
Again, he’s not a very attractive pick that will make a lot of noise during his rookie season, but his solid play can go a long way to changing the culture of the defense. Sometimes, those players are just as important if not more so when you’re dealing with a defense with as many holes as the Packers have.
Overall, he’s extremely close behind and creates a great defensive tackle class with the guy who’s next on this list.
