Round 6, No’s 186 and 207: Nick Nelson, CB, Wisconsin and Trenton Cannon, RB, Virginia State

The Packers have two more picks in round six and use them to take a familiar name and to add a player of value.

Nick Nelson was originally projected to go around the fifth round but the meniscus injury he suffered in a private team workout might drop him down a notch. He was a stud at Wisconsin after transferring from Hawaii. In his lone year as a Badger, he recorded 21 pass breakups which was near the top of the Country.

Trenton Cannon is a little-known prospect out of Virginia State that could help shore up the running back group. He’s a bit of a speedster with a 4.4 40-yard dash and has good lateral quickness as well. For a more in-depth read up on Cannon, click here.

Again, this round isn’t going to be a place where Green Bay finds a difference maker, instead, it’s more of a place to shore up depth at certain positions. And that’s exactly what happened here.
