Round 1, Pick No. 14: Tremaine Edmunds, OLB, Virginia Tech

One route to go at 14 would be to have the Packers select a cornerback as that’s their greatest position of need. However, given the depth at the position, Green Bay can wait a round to address it. And besides, I have the luxury of planning this all out beforehand to make sure everything goes smooth.

In this scenario, all the quarterbacks and reasonable corners (Minkah Fitzpatrick and Denzel Ward) went by 14 and the Packers end up selecting the best player available, Tremaine Edmunds.

Edmunds, who will have only celebrated 19 birthdays by the time the draft happens, has amazing athleticism and will be able to be a difference maker right away as an outside linebacker. He ran a 4.54 40-yard dash and is 6-foot-5. Talk about a stud.

He also had the production to back that up, racking up 213 tackles and 10 sacks in his three seasons at Virginia Tech. Edmunds would create a great rotation with Clay Matthews and Nick Perry and ensure they are all fresh. What a way to start the draft!
