Round 2, No. 45 Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State

After missing out on some of the top receivers in the Draft in the beginning of Round 2 as well as some of the top offensive linemen, we arrive at tight end as our next pick. Despite coming from a small school, Goedert is seen by many as the top tight end prospect in this class.

From Lance Zierlein:

"Goedert is a very talented pass catching tight end with the ability to work all three levels of the field. His ball focus and ability to make the spectacular catch will make him the darling of fans and media throughout the draft process, but, he still has work to do. Goedert dominated a lower level of competition and will have to prove he can uncover and block against bigger, more explosive athletes as a pro. The size, speed and talent is there for him to succeed as a very good combo tight end if he works and plays with a little more urgency."

And Matt Miller:

"Goedert lit up the FCS level and hits every box for athleticism, character and football IQ that NFL teams look for in tight ends. His biggest question mark is the level of competition he faced. He might start a bit slower than his tight end peers in this class, but no one has more potential."

He was often a man among boys in the FCS but when looking at the tape, he shows all the tools to be a force in the NFL. He’s gotten comparisons as high as Travis Kelce and could be an absolute steal in Round 2. With a former tight end in Mike McCarthy to help guide him, he’d be a great number two to Jimmy Graham with the potential to take over as the starter in time.
