Green Bay Packers mock draft: Full 7 rounds
Round 6, No. 186: Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, Edge, Oklahoma
When you get to the sixth round, you’re not likely to find the athletic marvels who are polished. You’re likely to find guys like Okoronkwo, who shows a lot of skill but is lacking in the physical department compared to the top-flight guys.
What he does have though is the motor and power to make an impact as a rotational player on the edge and a special teams stalwart.
From Lance Zierlein:
"Okoronkwo doesn’t possess the height, weight and length teams usually want on the edge and he doesn’t have the bend or athletic traits to supersede his deficiencies. With that said, he’s solidly built and plays with good aggression and motor. He lacks the physical and athletic traits that would make him a more dangerous NFL rusher, but he flashes some explosiveness and has enough room for improvement that he should develop into a solid NFL backup with eventual starter potential."
From Matt Miller:
"The hype surrounding Ogbonnia Okoronkwo is confusing. He posted good production against bad talent in the Big 12 and lacks the athletic tools to succeed in the NFL. He’s a role player at best who needs to be scheme-protected to make plays."
Okoronkwo isn’t going to be a game changer by any means, but he could be a solid rotational guy in the mold of a Jamari Lattimore who will also bring special teams value.
