8. Maurice Hurst, DT, Michigan

This might be an odd place to find Maurice Hurst given the mainstream media isn’t as high on him as others. In fact, they are really low on him.

McShay has him ranked as his 37th best prospect with a grade of 85 and Kiper Jr. mocked him to go to the Browns at No. 33 overall. But that’s not stopping me to put him at No. 8 on this Packers big board.

NFL.com has given him a grade of 6.00 which means he should become an instant starter. But most importantly, Pro Football Focus has him as their third-ranked player on their big board.

Even though Hurst plays on the inside, he still knows how to be an effective pass-rusher, something that the Packers sorely need. I mean, he racked up 10.5 sacks in the past two seasons combined from the interior, that’s almost unheard of.

He’s a little on the smaller end at only 6-foot-2, but he uses that to his advantage. He always plays low and wins the leverage battle with offensive lineman. He may be a bit of a gamble, but can be another game-changer along the defensive line for the Packers.
