Green Bay Packers: 5 potential draft day trades

4. Packers trade No. 14, No. 76, No. 133 and next year’s second for Colts’ No. 6.

In this situation, the Packers actually move up in the draft to get a key playmaker, Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Minkah Fitzpatrick is the top-rated cornerback in the draft and is projected to be a major star. He played all over the field at Alabama, but should primarily be an outside corner in the NFL. He’s the type of lock-down defender Green Bay needs and it’s worth mortgaging their draft picks for him.

The Indianapolis Colts’ No. 6 pick is worth 1600 points so the Packers have quite the gap to fill considering their No. 14 is only 1100. They do that by sending their No. 76 pick (third round and worth 210 points), No. 133 (fourth round and 40 points) and a conditional second-round pick in 2019 to the Jets.

The second round pick would be conditional on how or how much Fitzpatrick plays next season. Since the Packers are confident they’ll return to their winning ways, they believe their pick will be at the end of the round and worth somewhere around 300 points.

It may seem like a lot to give up, but it takes away the Packers biggest need and gives them two potential stud corners in Fitzpatrick and second-year man Kevin King. They still also have their second round and first pick in the fourth to help address their other needs.

If the Packers want any chance at Fitzpatrick, they have to jump in front of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and this does just that.
