2. Tight end battle

Troy Fumagalli leaving the Badgers for the NFL Draft has left a huge void at the tight end position. A position that has historically been one of great strength for the University of Wisconsin.

The good news is Wisconsin may already have the talent on their roster in redshirt freshmen Jake Ferguson (Barry Alvarez’ grandson) and Luke Benzschawel (brother of Beau Benzschawel).

I’ve already shared my love for Ferguson, as I think he’ll be the next great tight end at Wisconsin and the guy who wins this battle. Ferguson has been catching everything at Spring practice so far and continues to take the edge over his competitor.

However, don’t count Benzschawell out quite yet, as he has the body and frame to compete for playing time at the very least.

With a plethora of wide receivers out for practice and the game, the tight ends could be featured in the passing game and are worth keeping an eye on.
