3. Cornerback battle

The Badgers’ secondary is used to doing the hard-hitting, but they have been the hardest hit unit this year in terms of losing players. Gone are Derrick Tindal, Nick Nelson and Natrell Jamerson-three studs who anchored the unit for years.

Now, it’s just D’Cota Dixon who’s left over as the starter. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to participate in Spring practices due to a shoulder injury which gives his teammates even more of an opportunity to fill a role.

At safety, the main competitors for a starting role appear to be Patrick Johnson and Eric Burrell. Each player played sparingly last season either on special teams or in some sub packages.

At cornerback, Dontye Carriere-Williams appears to have one of the starting spots locked down. He was Wisconsin’s third corner last year as a redshirt freshman and has the most experience at the position.

Caesar Williams, Faion Hicks Madison Cone are three others who will fight for playing time in 2018. The trio doesn’t have a ton of combined experience, but is talented enough to make an impact this year.

Keep a close eye on this position, as it will go a long way to determining the Badgers’ success in 2018.
