5. Bucks win in double overtime against the Boston Celtics in the 1974 playoffs.

Overtime games are always fun. But double overtime games are double the fun and that’s exactly what happened to Milwaukee in 1974.

On May 10, 1974, the Bucks found themselves trailing the Boston Celtics two games to three in the NBA Finals and desperately needed a win to keep their season alive.

Ahead by six points entering the fourth quarter, Milwaukee looked to have things in check and send the series to the deciding Game 7. Unfortunately, John Havlicek and the Celtics had other plans as they used a furious comeback to tie the game and send it into overtime.

Fortunately, Milwaukee was able to ride Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (34 points) and a double-double from Oscar Robertson (18 points, 10 rebounds) to a thrilling 102-101 double overtime off an Abdul-Jabbar famous hook shot

Present day analytic guru’s would go crazy over this game as three players (Abdul-Jabbar, Robertson and Havlicek) played the entire game (58 minutes) and five others played over 41 minutes.

Admittedly, this game might be higher on the list if it had happened in recent memory, but regardless, it’s still one of the greatest playoff games in Bucks’ history.
