Game Two:

Game two began with back-to-back (boo!) home runs by the Cardinals and finished with back-to-back home runs by the Brewers (yay!).

Milwaukee trailed 2-0 after the first inning and 4-0 after the third and it appeared to be just another one of those nights. The Cardinals have had the Brewers number lately and appear to ruin anything good Milwaukee has.

The good news is the Brewers bullpen was able to keep the Cardinals’ hitters in check the rest of the way and allow the home team to scrap their way back into it beginning with this RBI single by Christian Yelich:

Even though it was only one run, it was something. And something is better than nothing.

Milwaukee was held scoreless over the next two innings and then faced desperation time as they were down 4-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth.

Yelich was again in on the fun as he smashed a ground rule double to right center to kick off the inning. After Ryan Braun went down looking, Travis Shaw singled to center which brought Yelich around to score. Eric Thames was the next batter and he singled to right before Jonathan Villar singled, scoring Shaw. Unfortunately, Arcia flew out weakly to center, but the Brewers closed the gap and only trailed 3-4.

Dan Jennings pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, allowing for some great drama to end the game. Things were looking glum when Eric Sogard and Lorenzo Cain went down in order and Yelich was on his last strike. However, Milwaukee won’t go quietly into the night and Yelich zoomed one over the fence to tie the game up with his first home run as a Brewer:

On the very next pitch, Braun did what Braun does best; came through in the clutch for the walk-off homer:
