Probable Starters: Mike Mikolas (RHP) vs Zach Davies (RHP)

The biggest news surrounding Milwaukee’s starting pitcher is something you don’t hear about very often, but it’s nonetheless critical; his routine.

According to Baseball-Reference, Zach Davies recorded a 5.82 ERA at home and only a 2.04 ERA on the road. In order to attack these struggles, he decided to begin his pregame routine at home earlier in order to give himself more time to calm down after warming up and to emulate that extra time he gets when pitching on the road.

And, boy, did it work, as he posted a 2.87 total ERA after the All-Star break.

Hopefully, he and the Brewers can carry that over to the 2018 season where they have a huge series against a division rival. Possibly, as big as it can get for the fourth game of a 162-game season.

The Brewers will want to set the tone early and will have a great chance to do so against Mike Mikolas who last pitched in the majors in 2014.
