1. Zach Davies will become the ace of the squad.

In the absence of Nelson, the Brewers will need someone to step up and become the new ace, and Zach Davies will be that man.

At only 25-years-old, he didn’t debut in the Majors until 2015 and it was only for a brief time as made six starts that season, finishing with a 3-2 record and a 3.71 ERA in 34 innings.

The following year, 2016, he increased his workload considerably, as he went 11-7 with a 3.97 ERA in 163.1 innings pitched. And finally, he took another big leap last season after he went 17-9 with a 3.9 ERA in 191.1 innings.

I believe that trend will continue in 2018 as he climbs over the 200 innings pitched marks and keeps his ERA under 4.00. Although he’s never thrown a complete game, that will change this year as well, as he morphs into his role as the ace of the Milwaukee Brewers’ pitching staff- a role that is desperately needed by a ball club who is short on quality pitching options.
