5. They will earn a Wild Card spot

In 2017, Milwaukee almost capped off an incredible season by making the playoffs, but unfortunately, they fell a wee bit short. They finished six games behind the Chicago Cubs for first place in the division and an agonizing one game behind the Colorado Rockies for the final Wild Card spot.

The good news is that will all change this year, as they will take that next step and earn themselves one of the National League’s two Wild Card spots and their first trip to the playoffs since 2011.

Led by an extremely balanced lineup, Milwaukee should be able to support a deep batting order that ensures pitchers have to constantly battle with every hitter. With no glaring weakness in the order, they should be able to wear down opposing pitchers as the games go on.

The team’s general manager, David Stearns, also hopes to have patched up the bullpen that left fans feeling frustrated after many summer nights in 2017. If the bullpen can be anything but league-worst this season, Milwaukee will have taken a nice step forward.

Overall, it all adds up to Milwaukee’s rebuild happening faster than anyone imagined and their third playoff appearance in the last 35 years.
