Milwaukee Bucks: League Wide Trade Options- Atlanta To Detroit
By Joe Kiemen
The Milwaukee Bucks 2016-2017 season may not be a complete success from a win-loss standpoint. However, the improvements of all-star Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jabari Parker, bode well for the future. Is there a trade opportunity that would push Milwaukee into the playoffs?
Throughout the tenure of G.M. John Hammond, the Milwaukee Bucks have always been active at the trade deadline. With the February 18th, deadline less than a month away, rumors will become more active surrounding the team.
One belief is that Milwaukee will stand pat and bank on the production of Khris Middleton. The Bucks have been without their top shooter the entire season and figure to improve from his return.
Center Greg Monroe has been involved in trade rumors since last season. Many believe he is a poor fit with Milwaukee because of his score first mentality. In addition, Monroe is unlikely to be with the team long-term. This makes it easier to part ways but less likely a team would give much in return.
If Hammond wanted to trade Greg Monroe, he would have the center’s bounce back year working in his favor. Despite coming off the bench, the former Detroit Piston is averaging 11 points and 7 rebounds per game.
While Monroe is the most likely player to be swapped, everyone except Antetokounmpo and Parker should be available at the right price. But, even Parker’s name pops up in far-fetched rumors around the league.
A case could also be made for rookie, Malcolm Brogdon to be deemed untouchable. Although it is highly unlikely that Hammond and Kidd would depart with their 2nd round pick. If a team offered a proven star, they would at least have to consider.
By February 18th, the Milwaukee Bucks roster could look exactly the same or John Hammond and Jason Kidd could make a big splash that shocks the NBA. In preparation, the roster of each NBA team will be examined for possible trade opportunities with the Bucks.
