Janoris Jenkins shows flashes of tremendous talent, but he also is prone to giving up huge plays through the air, something the Packers can use to their advantage.

Many people saw the Giants signing Jenkins as a bit of a gamble considering the unpredictable nature of his play. The five-year, $62.5 million contract is banking on his big-play ability to show up more often.

In four seasons with the St. Louis Rams, Jenkins had 10 interceptions with five of them returned for touchdowns. He also returned a fumble for a touchdown in his rookie season. Last season, he had three interceptions, though he had zero return yards on those picks.

No matter where Jenkins is on the field, expect him to be a part of two or three exciting plays Sunday.

Now the defense will need him to step up Sunday with Rodgers-Cromartie less than 100 percent and some inexperienced safeties behind him. That may cause Jenkins to play slightly less aggressively against the Packers.

Then again, once he’s in the flow of the game, it’s likely the volatile corner takes a few risks.

If he manages to get his hands on one of Rodgers’ throws – which is unlikely – that could swing the momentum of the contest.

It has felt like Jordy Nelson has been the only true threat among the receivers this season, so I’d expect Jenkins to mostly shadow number 87. If that’s the case, you might see a few more jump balls with the 6-foot-3 Nelson against the 5-foot-10 Jenkins.

No matter where Jenkins is on the field, expect him to be a part of two or three exciting plays Sunday. The question will be, which team will those benefit most.
