Twenty-nine long years had passed since the Packers were last seen in a Super Bowl. They were close to getting there the year before, but they lost to the eventual champion Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Championship game in Irving, Texas.

This time the NFC Championship game was at a frigid Lambeau Field.

The Packers would go on to defeat the Carolina Panthers 30-13 and advance to the Super Bowl for the first time since Super Bowl II.

Favre helped lead the Packers to the big game by throwing for 292 yards and two touchdowns.

The Packers finally got over the hump and advanced to a championship game. For a long time, the organization and its fans struggled to put a winning team on the field and become a championship caliber team. By winning this game, it helped propel the Packers back to its elite status.
