Green Bay Packers: How will the sophomores play?

Mike Pennel made the team as an undrafted free agent last year and did get some playing time throughout the season. Like Thornton, Pennel faces an uphill battle his sophomore season. A lot will depend on how long Letroy Guion is suspended.

If it’s only for a game or two, the Packers might risk it and carry only a few defensive lineman their first game of the season, which doesn’t bode well for a player like Pennel. He will need to impress again this training camp and preseason and kick it up a notch.

With the uncertainty surrounding suspensions on the defensive line and the health of B.J. Raji, Pennel could make the team just for depth purposes.

Prediction: Play stays the same, but makes team for depth reasons.
