The Brewers will have $7,743,800 to offer as bonuses allotted for players taken in the first 10 rounds, according to MLB.com. The deadline to sign players is July 17.
On the first day of the draft, the Brewers took Richland, Texas, outfielder Trent Clark with the 15th overall pick in the first round, University of Virginia left-hander Nathan Kirby with the 40th overall pick in the Competitive Balance “A” period and Cal Poly Pomona right-hander Cody Ponce with the 55th selection in the second round.
On the second day, Tuesday, in rounds three through 10, Milwaukee selected four right-handed pitchers, a lefty, a third baseman, a shortstop and a right fielder before loading up on pitching—19 in all—in rounds 11-40 on Wednesday.
There were also six players with Wisconsin ties selected in the draft, led by right-hander Kyle Cody of Chippewa Falls and the University of Kentucky, who went to the Minnesota Twins on the Monday with the 73rd overall pick in Competitive Balance round “B.”
