Round 6, Pick No. 210
Christian Ringo, DE, Louisiana-Lafayette
6-foot-1, 277 pounds
Christian Ringo is undersized for an NFL defensive lineman. But Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy recalled another player with similar attributes, comparing him with current Packer defensive end Mike Daniels.
Ringo was a quarterback killer for the Ragin’ Cajuns, setting a school record as a senior with 11½ sacks, the most in the Sun Belt Conference.
He had 45 tackles, 20½ for loss, a total that also led the Sun Belt.
NFL.com said Ringo was highly productive with good quickness, but that he lacks the height and length most NFL teams look for off the edge.
However, he brings added value as a long snapper.
“What I love about playing D-line is I can control the force,” Ringo told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “I’m the force. I’m the one that’s bringing the force.”
Ringo had 21 sacks in four seasons for Louisiana-Lafayette to go with 35½ tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.
