Player of the Week
This week was close in terms of who I wanted to pick. I was leaning towards picking Zaza, because I have loved when players step up into roles after some kind of turmoil happens (Larry Sanders in his case).
But this week I want to pick Giannis as my player of the week.
While it may not appear in my writing, I have been pretty critical of Giannis for one main reason; his (past) complete disregard to shoot the ball.
I would watch Giannis play and it was so frustrating watch him have an open three or open mid range jumper and not even act like he was going to shoot it. He wouldn’t pump fake; hell he wouldn’t even square up to the basket most of the time. He would pass the ball like a hot potato.
Now word is he has been working on his shot, which is the step he needs to take to take his game to the next level. And I’m so glad to see it.
Not only that, but the kid had a hell of a week too. He dropped a double double on the Knicks, scored 16 with eight boards against Charlotte, and had 14 and eight against Cleveland.
Giannis was all over the court this week, and the stat line showed it. Keep an eye on the development of his shot and see how that drastically improves his game.
