Friday, Nov. 27: Milwaukee Bucks at Detroit Pistons

Milwaukee traveled back to Detroit to play a familiar foe this young season in the Detroit Pistons.

The story of this game was the complete dominance of the Bucks’ bench.

Milwaukee outscored the Pistons in bench scoring 69-13.  No, that’s not a typo.  Milwaukee showed why they have one of the deepest benches in the league Friday night.  Five bench players had more points Friday night than the highest scoring starter (O.J. Mayo, eight points).

Ersan Ilyasova had a great game shooting for the Bucks, going 9-for-14 from the field, and had 22 points.

Here’s an honorable mention for veteran Jared Dudley as well.  Dudley had quite the efficient game, playing 22 minutes, scoring 16 points and going 6-for-8 from the field.  You go, Duds!

The big stat when playing Detroit so far has been the rebounding.  Milwaukee did in fact out-rebound the Pistons again in this game 44-39.  However, their big man, Andre Drummond, went off.  Like a 26-point, 20-rebound off.

Granted Zaza was absent due to the death of his grandmother, Drummond had his way with Milwaukee again.  Luckily, himself and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope were the only two Pistons to put any kind of game together Friday night.

And that’s why Milwaukee has gotten away with these kinds of performances from big men.  They don’t really have a supporting cast to back them up.  It’s an aspect of the Bucks’ game we should keep an eye on this upcoming month.

Milwaukee ended their year in the Palace with a 1-1 record, and still have a home contest against Detroit on Jan. 24.

The win gave Milwaukee three in a row, and put their record to 10-7.

The Bucks then traveled home to play the injury-plagued Houston Rockets Saturday night.
