Bovada Has Wisconsin Badgers RB Melvin Gordon 16/1 To Win Heisman

In more proof that you can, in fact, bet on anything related to the world of sports, the online sports book has installed Wisconsin Badgers running back Melvin Gordon as a 16/1 shot to win the Heisman Trophy in 2014.

Gordon is behind just six players on the board and has the same odds as Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner, quarterback Jameis Winston of Florida State, is the favorite to repeat at 9/2, followed by Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota at 6/1.

Other highly regarded candidates include Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller, who has the best odds of any player in the Big Ten Conference at 15/2; Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty at 12/1; while both UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley and Georgia running back Todd Gurley are listed at 14/1.

Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight is the only other player listed as a better than 20/1 shot. Knight is on the board at 18/1.

The highest ranked defensive player on the list is UCLA linebacker Myles Jack at 40/1.

Of the 29 players with listed odds, 16 are quarterbacks and 12 are running backs.

Other Big Ten players with listed odds include Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah (33/1), Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook (40/1) and Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg (50/1).

Gordon rushed for 1,609 yards and a Big Ten-best 7.8 yards per carry with 12 touchdowns in 2013.

Two Wisconsin players, both running backs, have won the Heisman—Alan Ameche in 1954 and Ron Dayne in 1999.
