Green Bay Packers G T.J. Lang Dealing With Sore Shoulder

Right guard T.J. Lang didn’t take many reps in Monday’s first padded practice as he deals with soreness in his shoulder.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Lang was in pads but only took one rep in a team drill Monday and also participated in some individual drills.

Tests showed nothing structurally wrong and Lang, entering his sixth NFL season, shouldn’t have to miss too much training camp time.

“It’s nothing I did in particular,” Lang said. “I think it was just a little bit of wear and tear catching up with me. All the tests were positive. Nothing too bad came out of it. It’s just something I need to rehab and focus on more, take better care in the future.

“But it’s not something that can’t be fixed with a little rehab and treatment. I’ve been doing that the last couple of days, trying to make sure I’m healthy before I go out and do anything.”

Don Barclay, who started at right tackle last season in the absence of Bryan Bulaga, took Lang’s spot at right guard for most of Monday’s practice.

Barclay is slotted to be a swing player on the line, backing up the guard and tackle spots now that Bulaga is back from the knee injury that wiped out his 2013 campaign before it started.

Coach Mike McCarthy has been generous in his praise of both Lang and left guard Josh Sitton during the Packers’ offseason program.

Lang has started all but one game for Green Bay since moving into the starting lineup in 2011. He was a starter for two years at left guard before switching to the right side in 2013.

Lang was a fourth-round pick of the Packers out of Eastern Michigan in 2009 and played his first two seasons as a backup.

Nose tackle Letroy Guion has yet to practice because of a hamstring injury he sustained while getting ready for camp and is on the non-football injury list.

“It was just when I was working out,” Guion said. “Just trying to push myself. It happens when you’re trying to get ready. Fortunately, I caught it before it got worse. I’m sure you’ll see me out there pretty soon.”

Guion is not running, instead doing movement rehab, and he has not been cleared for anything but light workouts.

Guion signed as a free agent this spring after six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. He started 13 games last season and had one sack and 21 tackles to go with a forced fumble.

He was a fifth-round pick by the Vikings out of Florida State in 2008 and has five career sacks.
