Never let it be said that Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk doesn’t care about what his fans want … even if it’s to be lit up like a ballcarrier in Hawk’s crosshairs.
Hawk was playing this week in the American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe, Calif., a celebrity golf tournament, when a fan invited Hawk to show him what it was like to get hit like an NFL receiver going across the middle.
Apparently, the fan wasn’t immediately placed into protective custody and whisked away to the nearest mental health facility, because the 6-foot-1, 235-pound veteran of eight NFL campaigns obliged the fan, as seen in the video below:
The fan, not a small guy, was sent sprawling. Hawk bounced through the hit in much the same way a car bounces through an insect hitting the windshield.
The fan was happy, though, jumping up and giving Hawk an enthusiastic man hug before, ostensibly, finding a quiet corner somewhere in which to cry.
It’s great that the fan got to live his dream and he may never wash those grass stains out of his clothing.
But assuming he was there with friends, you’ve got to either give them massive thumbs up for talking their buddy into doing something so amazingly stupid … or it’s a fail on their part because friends don’t let friends get jacked up by a pro, bro.
