Wisconsin Badgers Get Oral Commitment From In-State OT Jon Dietzen

Jon Dietzen, an offensive tackle from Seymour who Rivals.com ranks as the No. 1 recruit in the state of Wisconsin, made a verbal commitment on Sunday to the University of Wisconsin.

Dietzen, a 6-foot-5, 300-plus-pounder who will be a senior for Seymour next season, is ranked 42nd in the nation at his position by Rivals.com.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported the commitment Sunday, which was announced during a Rivals camp. He reportedly had offers from Michigan State and Nebraska in the Big Ten, as well as with Miami.

He is the fourth commitment for coach Gary Anderson’s 2015 class, joining quarterback Austin Kafentzis (Sandy, Utah), tight end Kyle Penniston (Santa Ana, Calif.) and wide receiver Andrew James (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).

According to ESPN.com, Dietzen projects as a right tackle at the FBS level with improvement needed in flexibility and foot quickness. ESPN.com’s scouting report raved about his height and size as well as his finishing mentality on blocks, particularly in the running game.
